Panasonic

Common in Singapore homes and perfectly good hardware. The smart-home problem is Comfort Cloud: Panasonic offers no local control path, so every command travels to a server and back.

Why we use Panasonic

  • Comfort Cloud integration does work, and gives full control including mode, temperature and fan speed.
  • The units are reliable and widely serviced here.
  • For a client who already has Panasonic, cloud control is better than no control.

Where we do not, and why

  • There is no local option. An internet outage means no aircon automation at all.
  • Cloud latency makes it noticeably slower to respond than a local integration.
  • The API is unofficial from Home Assistant's point of view and has broken on Panasonic-side changes before.
  • For a new installation where the aircon brand is still open, this is a reason to choose differently.

We integrate it where a client already has it, and we say clearly that this part of their system depends on the internet. Where aircon is still being chosen and smart control matters, we point at Daikin or Mitsubishi Electric instead.

Can Panasonic aircon be controlled locally?

Not through Panasonic. The only local alternative is an IR blaster, which sends commands but gets no state back, so the system cannot tell whether the unit is actually running.

Should I choose Panasonic if I want a smart home?

If aircon is still being specified and local control matters to you, Daikin or Mitsubishi Electric are the better choice. If you already have Panasonic, cloud control works and it is not worth replacing units over.
