Fibaro

Z-Wave modules and sensors with a reputation for excellent engineering and, in the case of the motion sensor, unusually good industrial design. In Singapore the price and the Z-Wave frequency question make it a specialist choice.

Why we use Fibaro

  • Exceptional build quality and reliability in the relay and dimmer modules.
  • Very compact modules that fit where others will not.
  • Fine-grained parameters, so behaviour can be tuned properly rather than accepted.

Where we do not, and why

  • Expensive - several times the Zigbee equivalent for the same function.
  • Z-Wave region-locking applies, and Singapore supply is thin.
  • The Home Center hubs are a closed ecosystem we would not build on; the modules on a generic controller are the useful part.

Do I need a Fibaro Home Center hub?

No, and we would not use one. The modules are standard Z-Wave and work with any Z-Wave controller, including the one attached to your Home Assistant machine.

Why is Fibaro so much more expensive?

Build quality, certification and configurability are genuinely higher. Whether that is worth several times the price depends on the specific installation, and usually it is not.
