// Brands

The brands, plainly explained.

A reference to the hardware a Singapore smart home is actually built from - hubs and platforms, switches and sensors, lighting, curtains, aircon, cameras, locks and the rest. 49 brands, one page each, covering what it does well, where it falls down and whether it works locally.

Every page follows the same shape: what the brand is good at, where it falls short, a pros and cons summary, and a technical panel covering the protocol it speaks, whether it works without a vendor cloud, and how well it integrates. The chip on each card below is the protocol, which is usually the first thing worth knowing.

None of this is sponsored, and none of it is a review of a product we have not worked with. If a brand changes what it does - and several have - the page changes with it.

What we look at

Four questions, in this order. Does it work locally? A device that needs a vendor's server to switch a light is a rental, not an installation. Is the integration real? Two-way state matters - a system that can only send commands is guessing. Will it still work in five years? Firmware updates that remove capability, retired APIs and discontinued hubs are all things we have watched break other people's homes. Is it built for a wall? Something behind a switch plate for the next decade is held to a different standard than a plug-in lamp.

Price comes fifth. It matters, and it is never the reason to put something unreliable into a ceiling.

We do not sell hardware

CtrlSpace carries no brands and takes no dealer margin. We procure on your behalf, or you buy it yourself from wherever it is cheapest - both are fine, and both cost you the same from us. That is why these pages can say a brand is a poor choice without it costing us anything.

Own something not listed?

The list covers what we get asked about most, not everything that exists. Home Assistant integrates with well over two thousand systems, so the honest answer for most devices is that it probably works - and we will check yours specifically rather than guess. Bring the list to a design session.

Bring us your list

Tell us what you already own and what you are thinking of buying. We will tell you what to keep, what to skip and what nobody has mentioned yet.
